Our fourth graders are finishing up their unit on disabilities soon. This study has helped our students realize that we all have challenges that we face each day - many different kinds that require all sorts of accomodations. One student asked the teachers to allow him to share how his own learning disability affected his approach to school. What a courageous gesture! Many thanks to Mrs. Smith and Mrs. Spicer for developing this unit for our students. What they are learning here will stay with them throughout their lives and enable them to empathize as well as relate to the feelings of others.
